The Fire District is a Geo-political subdivision in the Town of Hamlin.
The Board of Fire Commissioners oversees the Fire District. Morton and
Walker have their own Fire Districts. Under certain circumstances we
will respond to calls in their Fire Districts to aid them as they do the
same for us. The Fire District is responsible for maintaining all of
the apparatus, the firehouse, and all of the equipment directly
associated with providing emergency service to the community (pagers,
fire gear, etc.). The Fire District is funded from the Fire Protection
Tax paid by residents within the Hamlin Fire District.
The Board of
Fire Commissioners is the body that governs the District. There are five
commissioners that make up the board, with a chairperson that is one of
the five members. This group oversees all money expenditures and
handles issues related directly to fire protection service in the
District.
