Monday, August 15, 2011  Sunday was the last day of Carnival 2011 and was loaded with fun stuff to do. The rain held off for most of the day and people had plenty of time to enjoy the rides, food, karaoke and the chicken BBQ.


We hope to see you all at our carnival next year, August 9-12 2012.

Sunday, August 14, 2011  The third and longest day of carnival went very well. It started with the horseshoe tournament, then the parade and ended with Detour playing in the beer tent. The movie captures a small portion of the overall activity.


Join us for our last day.


Karaoke contest beginning at 1PM. Sign ups start at noon. Chicken BBQ at Merritt Hall. This will include a half chicken, salt potatoes and slaw for only $8. Eat in or take out are no problem.

Pay one Price ride tickets are $18 and good from 1-6PM.

Saturday, August 13, 2011  A police standoff and lengthy detours forced the Firefighters Parade to be moved to Saturday, but there was still a lot of fun at the carnival. The short movie shows a small portion of what was happening.


Come on down on Saturday for the Horseshoe Tournament at 11 AM in the beer tent.


The parade starts at 4PM.



Pay one Price ride tickets are $18 and good from 1-6PM. From 6-11PM there are also pay one price tickets available for $18.


From 3-5PM live music will be provided by Elder Bros. (blues and classic rock) and all the way from Texas, Texas Heat playing classic rock. In the evening Detour will play classic and alternative rock.

Friday, August 12, 2011  Day one of the Hamlin Fire Department's Carnival was great. The weather was great and plenty of people had a wonderful time. Check out the movie to see what happened.


Hope to see you on Friday August 12 for the Firefighters Parade 7PM (line-up beginning at 5:30 in Tops parking lot). Please note Route 19 will be closed between Hamlin-Clarkson Townline Road and Railroad Ave. starting at 6:45 PM until the parade ends. The intersection of Route 18 and Route 19 will also be closed during this time. Contact John Thornton at jthornton@rochester.rr.com for any additional information.

The ride company providing the rides this year is Fun For Everyone Shows, from Buffalo. This is the same ride company that provided rides for the 2011 Kendall Carnival. We are expecting a total of over 20 rides and an additional 20 food and game booths.  There are “pay one price” ticket sales for each of the four days of carnival. Tickets are available on the carnival grounds only.

On Thursday, August 11, after the Youth Parade, pay $15 for unlimited rides from 6-11PM. Each child marching in the Youth Parade gets a free ride ticket, a free hotdog and a free pop.

On Friday, August 12, pay $18 for unlimited rides from 6-11PM.

On Saturday, August 13 from 1-6 PM, pay $18 for unlimited rides. From 6-11PM an unlimited ride ticket costs $18.

On Sunday, August 14 from 1-6 PM, pay $18 for unlimited rides.





 

In the beer tent, live bands will be playing Thursday – Saturday night.


On Thursday, August 11, the band will be “Bordertown” playing from 8 PM-Midnight. This is band plays Country and Southern Rock from a variety of artists including Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and others. On Friday August 12 the band for the evening is "Retrospective". This band plays classic rock hits from the 70’s thru the 90’s from the Who, Beatles, ZZ Top, Loverboy, 3 Doors Down, and many others. They will hit the stage at 9PM and will play until 1AM. Visit their website for a complete list of their songs, photo’s and a ton of extra information. http://retrospectiveny.com/

On Saturday August 13, the fun starts with the horse shoe tournament. Teams can sign up at 11AM and there is a 100% payout for prizes. From 3-5PM TWO additional bands have been added. Elder Bros. will be playing a mix of blues and rock, Texas Heat (based in Texas) will be playing classic rock.  In the evening, "Detour" will be playing a blend of classic and alternative rock from 9PM-1AM. I have been told that they sound similar to Seventh Heaven, who packed the Kendall Carnival on July 9, and sounded great.

On Sunday August 14 there will be a karaoke contest beginning at 1PM. Sign ups start at noon.

All drinks in the beer tent will be $3 and they will have the following: Labatts Blue, Blue with Lime and Blue Light, Bud Light, Coors Light,  Bartles and Jaymes wine coolers in the following flavors Exotic Berry, Fuzzy Navel, Pomegranate Raspberry, Strawberry Daiquiri, (and maybe) Michelob Ultra.

Please note that before people of all ages are welcome in the beer tent but at 9PM anyone under 21 year of age needs to vamoose.

The games of chance this year will be Beat the Dealer, Over and Under and Big Six. Minimum bet is $1 and the maximum is $5 and you must be over 18 years old to play.

Drinks will be Coke products (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, water, Dr. Pepper, Lemonade and iced tea)

The Hamlin Fire Exempts will be cooking clams, salt potatoes, (maybe) corn and potato pancakes.


Morton Fire Department runs the "Firehouse Cafe" and they provide coffee, cakes, pies, beef on wick and other assorted tasty teats.


On Sunday we will also have a chicken BBQ at Merritt Hall. This will include a half chicken, salt potatoes and slaw for only $8. Eat in or take out are no problem.


 

The Youth Parade will be on Thursday, August 11 at 7PM. The route is from the Hamlin Town Hall (sign up and line up at 6:30 PM) to the Hamlin Ambulance building. The theme this year is "We are the future". Each child marching in the youth parade will receive a ride ticket, a free hot dog and pop at the carnival. There will be prizes for the scariest, cutest, and most unique costumes for individuals and groups of four or more. Additionally prizes will be awarded for floats and a place for them in the Firefighters Parade on Friday. There is a $3 special on the unlimited ride tickets after the parade. The Firefighters Parade is on Friday, August 12, starting at 7PM. The line up will begin at 5:30-6PM. The route will begin at the Tops Plaza and proceed north on Route 19 to the Hamlin Ambulance building. MC's will be Randy Jensen and Charlie Chick Sr.. Please note that on Friday, August 12, all traffic will be shutdown on Route 19 between Hamlin-Clarkson Townline Road and Railroad Ave. and Route 18 at the light in town from about 6:45 PM until the parade ends. Plan on making a detour around this area during this time.
